Junior Technical Engineers Submarine and Surface Ship Maintenance Planning



 

McKean is currently seeking entry level Technical Engineers to join our team of qualified Lifecycle Engineering and Maintenance Process professionals.  The qualified applicant will become part of the McKean Defense Group team providing Program Management, Engineering, Logistics, and Training support for a major NAVSEA Engineering Maintenance program. The qualified applicant will be responsible for performing various support functions for submarine and surface ship maintenance planning; availability work planning; engineering analysis; preventative maintenance development, scheduling and documentation; calibration support; maintenance instruction document program administration and quality management process supervision.

 

Submarine and Surface Ship Maintenance Planning

Support engineering efforts to develop, manage and execute submarine availability work packages, planning metrics and schedules.

Support required analysis and data calls for submarine maintenance planning.

 

Reliability Centered Maintenance

Support reliability centered maintenance and analysis.

Support maintenance planning and cost analysis efforts.

Support reliability centered data base administration and data calls.

 

Preventative Maintenance System

Support efforts to develop, maintain, document and provide technical feedback for PMS

Support admin requirements for in-service and new PMS development and documentation.

Support PMS performance metrics reporting and data calls.

 

Calibration

Provide admin support for required system calibration.

Provide technical documentation support of calibration certifications and scheduling.

Support calibration metrics reporting and data calls.

 

Maintenance Instruction Documentation (MIDS)

Support MIDS development, maintenance and management requirements.

Support MIDS product delivery and scheduling.

 

Innovation and Quality Management

Be familiar with innovative practices process across all engineering support including maintenance planning, availability work package management, MIDS, material and combat systems engineering programs to improve cost engineering performance.

Be familiar with quality management and Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) methods.

Support Innovation and Quality Management metrics reporting and data calls.

 

General:

Provide technical engineering SUBMEPP support.

Support various meetings and conferences. 

 

Required Skills:

Engineering experience with submarines and/or surface ships (LCS).

Working knowledge of Navy submarine and ship depot level maintenance processes.

Working knowledge of the theory and workings of submarine and ship maintenance processes.

Working knowledge of the theory and principles of Hull, Mechanical and Electrical Systems.

US citizenship with current SECRET clearance.

Must have good technical writing and verbal communications skills.

Process oriented and organized for quality results.

 

Required Experience:

 

Candidate must have a minimum of 1 - 4 years’ experience in submarine maintenance engineering support.  Fleet experience must include knowledge of the maintenance policies and procedures for NAVSEA, SUBMEPP, and Submarine Type Commander. Minimum 1 - 4 years’ experience with overall planning, maintenance related programs with an emphasis on

NAVY 3M program

Performing support for maintenance/development of PMS documentation

Performing support for maintenance of submarine calibration programs

Familiar with submarine/TYCOM QA qualifications for maintenance programs dealing with Safety of Ship, SUBSAFE, Fly by Wire and/or scope of certification programs

Supporting systems development efforts

Support for research analysis or technology initiatives

Submarine engineering technical support

Short/long range action completions

 

Must have interfaced at a working-level with various submarine maintenance engineering organizations and understand the relationships between them to include engineers, technicians, project managers, and maintenance teams.  Must be able to effectively communicate with Ship’s Force with minimal supervision. 

 

Desired:

Minimum of 2 year’s maintenance supervision experience.

Prior Navy experience in an engineering rating a plus.

 

 

Job Location

These positions are located in various Fleet concentration areas including Portsmouth NH, San Diego CA, Norfolk VA, etc.

Limited travel may be required, approximately 20% and may include passport travel to Guam/Singapore.
