Lead LINUX SME – Bethesda, MD (Secret)



Lead LINUX Engineer serving as primary POC to the Development, IA and Infrastructure groups for all things LINUX.  Primary focus is LINUS systems but responsibilities will cover wide range from VMWare, Firewalls, Windows and Active Directory.  Engineer needs to be a proactive leader with solid LINUX experience and firm understanding of IT and IA in general.  

Responsibilities: Tier 3/4 LINUX support.  Monitoring and analyzing performance and capacity metrics to better utilize resources.  Assist in system analysis to resolve application malfunctions and provide problem resolutions.  Create and/or update appropriate documentation.  Serve as SME for all LINUX issues within the NWSCCD community.  Train/mentor less-experienced system administrators to develop technical expertise.  Take a proactive role in the overall engineering and support of the LINUX/IT infrastructure.

Experience:

·         7+ years LINUX experience including work with relevant hardware and platforms

·         Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Technologies or Computer Science 

·         DoD Active Secret Clearance

Knowledge of Capacity Planning, Load Testing, managing environments, LINUX systems and application middleware, PHP, JAVA, Perl, HTML, JavaScript and other web technologies.   Candidate must be familiar with Load Balancers, Open Source Technologies, web and application servers. 

Will need a solid background with Red Hat Enterprise LINUX.  Programming fundamentals/LINUX scripting, knowledge of VMWare, Microsoft Windows, Group Policies, Active Directory and ESXI are required.  Firewall experience a plus.

You must be comfortable discussing complex technical issues and resolutions with senior management.

Project or Program Analyst – Bethesda, MD (Secret)

 

McKean Defense Group currently has an opening for a Scheduler/Project Planner/Program Analyst to directly support US Navy programs. Candidate will be responsible for supporting tasks to including Scheduling, project planning, (MS Project), financial tasks, meeting support, periodic status reports and creating PowerPoint presentations.  You will have 5-7 years of experience with MS Office and Project; excellent verbal and written communications skills and an active DoD Secret Clearance.

 

Schedule/Project Planning:  Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&M) and Integrated Schedule development and maintenance support which includes program schedules and Gantt charts in MS Project. Creation of automated MS Project schedules which linked to an existing master file.

 

Administrative Support:  Coordination and participation in program meetings. Capturing and distributing meeting agendas, meeting minutes and action items. Provide meeting materials and production of meeting presentation books, CDs, nameplates, etc. Collecting, reviewing and streamlining weekly status inputs from supporting ISEAs for program report submittal. Creation and maintenance of program Schedule of Events (SOEs) and task spreadsheet maintenance for tracking of internal responsibilities and due dates.

 

Financial Support:  Create customized financial spreadsheets for the task leads/program managers. Financial support may include funding analysis, labor & non-labor weekly financials, program funding charts, monthly expenditure charts and cost variance charts to analyze historical financials, track current task spending and to forecast future trends.

Presentation Support:  Provide PowerPoint presentation support by compiling program data and capturing program overviews, highlights, lowlights and objectives, as well as creating program matrix, financial and organizational charts.

 

Technical Documentation Support:   Production, editing and reformatting of tech manuals and tech manual figures. This support also includes converting tech manual PDFs into editable Word documents. Tech manual documentation comparisons are also performed to record discrepancies and differences. 

 

Must have 5-7 years of experience in the following areas: 

 ·      MS Office Suite - must be proficient in Office, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Naval Program or Project Analysts (Logistics, Admin & Training)


 

This is a great opportunity for prior USN Service members with a background in Navy Fleet experience areas such as SUBMEPP Admin Support and/or Navy Admin (Petty Officer Level PS or YN) a plus.

 

McKean is currently seeking Junior Analysts (Logistics, Admin & Training) to directly support US key US Navy programs.  Qualified candidates will be responsible for performance of logistics, administrative and training support tasks to include project and meeting support; training admin support and documentation; preparing periodic status reports and creating PowerPoint presentations.   

 

Logistics Support:

Provide support relating to 3M documentation (Maintenance and Material Management)

Provide support to track submission of PMS reports and responses

 

Administrative Support:

Technical Documentation Support:
Provide support for the production, editing and reformatting of Navy written policy and guidance, such as Instructions, Manuals, pamphlets and Process Maps. 

 

Required Experience

Candidate must have a minimum of 1-4 years’ experience in the following areas:

Senior Technical Engineers Submarine and Surface Ship Maintenance Planning



 

McKean is currently seeking senior Technical Engineers to join our team Lifecycle Engineering and Maintenance Process professionals. Support Innovation and Quality Management analysis and data calls.

 

General:

Provide executive level oversight of all technical engineering SUBMEPP support.

Lead and attend various meetings and conferences. 

 

Required Skills:

Provide resident engineering expertise for various classes of submarines and/or surface ships (LCS).

In-depth knowledge of Navy submarine and ship depot level maintenance processes.

In-depth knowledge of the theory and workings of submarine and ship maintenance processes.

In-depth knowledge of the theory and principles of Hull, Mechanical and Electrical Systems.

US citizenship with current SECRET clearance.

Must have excellent technical writing and verbal communications skills.

Required Experience:  

Candidate must have a minimum of 15 years’ experience in submarine maintenance engineering process support. Navy experience preferred. Experience must include knowledge of the policies and procedures for NAVSEA, SUBMEPP, and Submarine Type Commander. Experience must include the following elements: maintenance planning, major maintenance programs (typically large, multi-year efforts divided into several sub-programs/tasks), maintenance related programs with an emphasis on:

 

NAVY 3M program

Management/maintenance/development of PMS documentation

Management/maintenance of submarine calibration programs

Submarine/TYCOM QA qualifications to oversee maintenance programs dealing with Safety of Ship, SUBSAFE, Fly by Wire and/or scope of certification programs

Short/long range action planning

Able to independently plan, lead and accomplish complete projects or studies of broad scope and complexity.  Considerable creativity to inspire innovative approaches to accomplish work, resolve problems, and make timely decisions in situations where standard engineering methods, procedures, and techniques may not be applicable desired.

 

Desired:

Minimum of 10 year’s supervisory experience.

Associates level degree in an engineering discipline or military experience culminating with attainment of the rank of E-8 or E-9 in an engineering rating.

 

Job Location

These positions are located in various Fleet concentration areas including Portsmouth NH, San Diego CA, Norfolk VA, etc.  Limited travel may be required, approximately 20% and may include passport travel to Guam/Singapore.
